DU-STATE-DU

Chris Stockman set a new course record at the 12th annual Du-State-Du Duathlon at Loud Thunder Forest Preserve. The women's winner was Heidi Schmidt. Both are qualified for the Duathlon World Championships in Rimini, Italy. Nearly ideal weather conditions of 62 degrees, North wind at 7 mph, and a little sun made the race pleasant and fast for all 226 participants. The team of Cornbelt Running Club and Quad Cities Bicycle Club presidents, Nancy Kapheim and Cathy Storm won second in their division. The Du-State-Du consists of approximately two miles running on an out-and-back course, followed by about 15 miles on a course featuring three significant hills and two turn arounds. The second run is slightly shorter than the first due to the placement of the finish chute.
