This year marked the 20th anniversary of the four-mile event that was begun by the college in 1982. "It's hard to believe that we have grown from just 150 runners to more than 900 participants every year," Race Director Anne Schmidt said. "With the cold weather we have been having off and on this winter, we were a little nervous going into this year's race but everything turned out wonderfully." Temperature at the noon start of the race was 35 degrees F. The record low temperature for the race was set in 1996 when the thermometer at race time dipped to 15 degrees F. below zero. Wind chill at the time was a frosty 55 degrees F. below zero.
In addition to the race awards, the B-rrry Scurry also hosts a B-rrry Challenge open to all business and organizations. The winners are determined by the number of people the respective organization has entered in the race. Winner in the large division of the Corporate Challenge was Equistar Chemical with 49 participants, followed by Mercy Medical Center with 24, 3M with 22 and Clinton Community Schools at 22. The winner in the small division was Penthouse Lounge with 37 followed by Cadogan Chiropratic.
